Today's loot. Three totally different releases from totally different genres. Three of the best and most interesting releases of 2018.
Cirith Ungol - Witch's Game: As a huge fan of Cirith Ungol, I couldn't resist adding their latest effort in my collection, even if the price was too high for my standards. The new song which includes, is simply mindblowing. It brings back all the glorious atmosphere of their legendary 80s albums, especially King of the Dead. Who could ever believe such comeback?
Sacral Rage - Beyond Celestial Echoes: This is most probably one of the two or three best releases of the year, if not the best one. The album sounds completely fresh and the tracks flow smoothly from the beginning to the end. The level of paranoia behind the compose of each and every track is extremely high, so this album is not recommended for narrow minded metalheads. A must for fans of #watchtower#toxik#nastysavage etc.
Immortal - Northern Chaos Gods: Ok first things first. I'm not a black metal fan. I never was. In fact, black metal genre appeals the less possible to me among the rest metal genres. But this is definitely a release it drew my attention so much that I finally got stucked with it. The band in this album is not a bad joke of itself. Immortal deliver a massive war metal attack focused in the early epic Bathory area more than ever. If you believe that Under the Sign of the Black Mark and especially Blood Fire Death are milestones of the genre, this album is surely for you.
DEADFALL, “Keep Telling Yourself It’s Ok” 7”.
Third and final EP for this San Francisco based hardcore punk band from 2002/2007 that sounds like it’s coming straight out of Washington DC in the early eighties. Their only LP is one of the best hardcore records of the new millennium, but this EP kicks major arse as well.
This is the first edition with screenprinted cover and white/blue vinyl limited to 170 (but easy to find), with art by Andrei Bouzikov, their bass player, who went on to do artworks for Municipal Waste, Phobia and many more. While their drummer, Scotty, runs the great Tankcrimes label that released this.
