Do you feel like you’re on a hamster 🐹 wheel, wishing you could escape the rat race? *
I’ve been reading a great book called The Happiness Track, by Emma Seppala. She argues that, as society, we're always chasing 🏃🏼♀️the future. We want to do more and be better. For example, we want to lose weight, want to be the perfect parent, want to advance in our profession. There's nothing wrong with setting goals for ourselves and having drive, but it's when we get into (OVER)DRIVE 🏎that we run into problems. Drive is positive, but in small doses.
You pay a huge price 💲for being in overdrive all the time, and it's called chronic stress. One of the definitions of stress is having to face enormous challenges 🤦♀️ while feeling you have too few resources to meet the challenge. I know when I was a full-time elementary school teacher 🔡 , I definitely felt that. There were enormous challenges within the classroom and too few resources to meet them effectively.
Are you in a profession right now where this definition rings true❓How do you deal with this stress? I’d love you to share your ideas below ⬇️⬇️ in hope that someone else can benefit.
