Organizer of Spin for Survivors
Victim Response Inc. The Lodge is a non-profit domestic violence center that offers refuge to survivors of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, and their dependents. Here, they are provided with safety, care, and resources that will aid them in regaining a sense of strength and freedom over their lives. Provided with a sanctuary they may call “home,” residents of The Lodge are able to obtain a level of trust in their surroundings, and peace-of-mind that the abuse, that had once been their reality, no longer exists or defines them. Our purpose is to serve through advocacy, safety planning, crisis intervention and overall support so as to empower them and enlighten a sense of hope for the future.
Feeling a bit better and got the green light from @j2pointo to get a lil #workout in so decided to visit @dgilbert1 at @offroaddc#CapHill. Wasn’t sure I’d make it through without a coughing fit but it went ok! Good-not-great. Eight days to get my #legs and lungs back! .
Come ride with me at #OffRoad Cap Hill Sunday to see this recovery in action!

It's not something I talk about publicly or often because I was really ashamed, self-conscious, and quite frankly depressed for a period of time but for the past 2 years I've been struggling with my weight/body image.
Around the age of 28 (2016) I noticed my metabolism slowed down quite a bit & my hips widened (thanks delayed puberty!) Around that time I also came up w/ the crazy idea of running my own catering company while also working a fulltime job.
That meant zero time for my body physically, emotionally, & mentally. As a result I gained around 25-30 lbs pretty quickly & lost all my muscle mass; mind you I'm short at 4'10" so any weight gain is really noticeable. I went from knowing myself as a tiny size 0 petite figure to someone completely unrecognizable. My clothes didn't fit, I was super pale, & I started to have really negative thoughts
My crazy work hours affected my health as well; I became iron & Vitamin D deficient & was borderline anemic.
I eventually shut down my catering company (which I loved & still miss) & incorporated yoga back into my life in 2017 (thank you @cherryblossomyoga!!) Progress was very slow & I had to regain my strength and flexibility all over again. But I was missing the cardio aspect. I tried running again but running in Houston humidity amidst mosquitoes was awful. I gave up pretty quickly. It was nothing like running along the boardwalk of Mission Beach San Diego 😅. Did a few races & was consistent until Hurricane Harvey in Aug 2017.
And then I found @fullpsycle in Aug 2018. I never thought I'd be one of those 'spin' people 😂 BUT I ❤ IT!!! I am still working towards my fitness goals BUT I'm not looking to be size 0 anymore. Instead I am looking forward to a healthier, balanced lifestyle.
So TLDR, I'm just happy to finally be back in my Friday night routine at @fullpsyclemstx with the one and only @the_masterpiece77.
Thank you for the motivation and the inspiration reminding me to be a better version of myself each time I'm on the bike. 💜🧡
Last night I went to my third cyclebar class and I really love it!! Spinning is by far one of the best calorie burners I've ever done and cyclebar takes it to another level. It's like a cycle dance club and let me tell you I give these teachers so many props for there coordination. They look like they are gracefully and rhythmically dancing while riding a bike super fast I on the other hand am just trying to breathe, keep going and not fall off my bike! 🤪
And while it's a fantastic workout they charge more monthly than I pay for a yearly subscription to my home workouts with any type of program you could ever want or need. Cyclbar provides 45 minute workouts, however you need to be there 15 mins in advance and the gym is 20 minutes away (which isn't even that far). So I left my house at 5:45 and got home around 7:40, that's almost 2 hours I dedicated to my workout yesterday! I don't know about you but I barely have time to breathe most days with my busy schedule so that's a lot of time! 😒
So as much as I like it, I know it's not something I'd be able to sustain doing everyday. I take the least time possible walk to my office press play and 25 to 45 mins later (depending on the workout) I'm done and back in my living room. This is what has allowed me to stay so consistent and I'm ready to really dive into it again and get some great results and save cyclbar for special occasions to mix things up!🙃 #sweatyselfie#spinclass#busylife#feeltheburn#uncoordinated
