Hey everyone, Emily here! Although this might not be the typical inspirational, beautifully worded post, I think it's just as important. I think we all want Creative Collective to also challenge you all while being totally authentic in the process. So since I'm authentically not one for flowery, inspirational messages, here's my bossy and harsh one 😂😬. Let's talk about EXCUSES. I HATE excuses and am personally challenging myself more and more not to make excuses when explaining why I can't, or didn't do something. I'm definitely not perfect, but I think this is something my parents instilled in me and my work ethic at a young age. Don't waste time making or explaining excuses, when you could just be getting the task done! I think it's much more beneficial and more professional to just be up front and tell your client or whoever you may be dealing with the facts and then explain what you will do to fix it, quickly and efficiently. Be respectful of those you work with and their time; and although it may sound harsh- they usually don't care WHY you didn't get something done, they just want to know WHEN you're going to do it!
So here's a few practical goals/tips we can all work on in our everyday lives and businesses (I'm going more in depth on these in our @creativecollectivelex Facebook group too!): 1. BE ON TIME always! Wake up or leave your house 30 minutes early for every appointment.
2. Don't over schedule yourself! If you have a big event or deadline, keep the entire day of clear for last minute to-do's and unexpected tasks.
3. Constantly keep clients in the loop! Be up front with your schedule and keep clients updated throughout the process.
There's a phrase in politics that says "If you're explaining, you're losing" and I think that is so applicable in business as well. I want to challenge you to implement the 3 items above just for a week or two, and see how it changes your efficiency and client relationships. Let's spend less time explaining, and more time getting the job done! #creativecollectivelex
