As autumn evenings darken, for me, it is time to add light and colour around the house 😊 so a couple of weeks ago I collected leaves to press between sheets of copy paper in a big old book. After 2 weeks in the airing cupboard they have dried and kept their colour well. A string of lights in the conservatory banishes the darkness gently and by attaching leaves with tiny wooden pegs here and there amongst them, the effect is warming and gives that feeling of cosiness.
In the evenings the leaves are illuminated and on a sunny day, like today, the sun shines through them making them glow.
For me , taking the time to collect leaves by choosing the right shapes and colours for this project is a lovely exercise in mindfulness and knowing that the end result will give me that hygge feeling on dark evenings is worth the effort...and of course the leaves are free...and everywhere 😊
