Jackfruit is a delicious, sweet fruit, but it's not just for dessert.
When it's less ripe, you can make all sorts of tasty savory dishes from it, such as this tasty vegan poke, a Hawaiian dish usually made with fish.
The vegan poke was made by Zel Allen of the Vegetarians in Paradise website.
She added sweet red pepper to the jackfruit, flavored the dish with sesame oil and peanuts and sprinkled it with parsley.
Zel made the dish for a party, and so she also garnished it with a red pepper flower.

Do you live in a place where winters are harsh and the heater is running constantly? If so, your skin must be screaming in agony. How do you quench its perennial thirst?
Someone reached out to me for help. My general recommendation is 1) don’t use harsh soaps - use Ubtan if possible. 2) Moisturize with oil. According to Ayurveda, in the winter Vata is high and sesame oil is warming and recommended to pacify this dosha. So use sesame oil after a warm (not hot) shower when skin is still damp. 3) Oil penetrates into skin. In the harshest of winters, apply a coat of a thick cream on top of the oil to lock in the moisture. Creams contain waxes that form a coating on top of skin and prevent loss of moisture.
I can personally attest to the remarkable qualities of sesame oil. When perfumed with essential oils suitable for pacifying Vata, the oil treatment is transformed into a spa like treatment 🙂. Highly recommended. •

Green power: Stir fried kale and seaweed with garli and chili🍴🙏 So easy, so exciting! In sesame oil, fry up lots of garlic and chili then throw in kale and wakame seaweed. Flavor it with soysauce and even sprinkle in a bit of bonito flakes before turning off the heat. Makes a great dish to put on rice, or if you make it extra hot, nibble with 🍺😉 #tokyomom #tokyomum #tokyohomecookedmeal #japanesehomecooking #tokyolife
