Scoliosis is essentially a bend in the spine. People (like me) can have it for years and not know. This year, it became noticeable, making my front and back look very unsymmetrical.
Coming to terms with this, in a world where symmetry is all that is shown in beauty shots, has been a killer. •
I’ve been doing daily physiotherapy to make my body appear more normal, I’ve made progress and the changes are way less noticeable to the untrained eye. But I still notice. I have dark days, and I have to remind myself constantly that i don’t have it that bad, there is no “normal”, perfect symmetry is fabricated and unrealistic.
