Feeling really grateful today that I get to live in such a vegan friendly area. Olympia has so many restaurants with vegan options, actual vegan restaurants, private facebook groups, delicious substitute foods that taste exactly like the real thing, and the best part.. other vegans! Everywhere! I didn’t realize how important of a role having a vegan community plays in thriving and sustaining as a vegan. It’s so much fun to get together and have potlucks and be able to eat EVERYTHING there! And have online boards of people sharing where the best deals are for popular alternative foods in my area, cooking dates, and just support when you feel like you need new recipes or information. •
When I went vegan in high school, I was basically trying to survive on bread lol I had no idea what I was doing and didn’t have anyone to help! If you want to go vegan, but feel like it will be too hard, I promise you.. it won’t. Join facebook groups, follow vegan pages, and have a circle of vegan friends to help/mentor you. Take advantage of the massive vegan movement and all the people before you that have tried things and know the best recipes, substitute foods. and restaurants. It makes all the difference!!
