One of the members in my creative group posted a challenge recently: Write a story in 10 sentences or less.
I love exercises like this, because at first, it seems impossible. How can you tell a story in such a short space and give readers a sense of setting, character, and the other basics?
These types of flash assignments force you to push aside the naysaying voices, and just write. This one also came in during a day when I was feeling uninspired and listless. I knocked this out, and it cleared the logjam so I could work on my other pieces again.
