Yumbun lunchbox - £9
Yumplings lunchbox - £10
So excited to hear that the @citymunchapp are launching in the Wharf this week with a bunch of great deals. We got to check out @yum_bun today, who are offering 20 percent off (plus you get the extra boost when you use the code UCLVIP when you download the City Munch app... because we know you love a good deal!). Giant Robot has been a nice secluded chiller out lunch spot by the Crossrail rooftop garden, with 4 different restaurants. Yum Bun serves a mixture of buns, dumplings and gyoza - our favourites are deffo the mushroom yumplings and the tofu buns. Staff are friendly and food is usually prepared pretty quickly. If you do check it out, let us know what you think!
Amazing meal at Duddell’s, high end Chinese in an artistic space within an old church. Service was a little slow an inattentive at times but the food is outstanding and portions just right so you can order a wide assortment even with two people! So difficult to choose from the wide but delicious looking assortment from the menu but stuck to some classics including Peking Duck and their assortment of dim sum.
All this rain has me craving for a hot bowl of spicy noodle soup. A little throwback to this bowl of Singapore laksa from Laksamania. My favourite so far is still the Melaka laksa (which I have never heard of before - does it even exist in Malaysia?), but I don’t really mind what it’s called when it tastes good! 😂
While walking back from the station, ran across Mohsen, a traditional Persian restaurant near Earl’s Court and High Street Kensington. Fantastic minced lamb, lamb fillet, and lamb chop kebabs paired with great side salads and aubergine based dishes.
8-Course Chef's Tasting Menu (Part 3) See Part 1 for course names.
There were some great and subtle flavours in tasting menu, and everything was beautifully presented. The pork rib, chicken malai tikka and treacle tart were favourites as well as the delicious amuse bouche at the start of the evening. The service was attentive for the most part but there were some slip-ups such as forgotten requests for drinks and one course not arriving together resulting in quite a gap before the other half of our table received their dishes.
Ube Doughnut 🍩
@ Mamasons - I've been really excited for this but maybe it was the expectation, it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. The Ube filling was generous but the doughnut was quite dry and heavy. I prefer lighter airy doughnuts that don't feel filling. Think I'll just stick to the Ube ice cream. 🍦 📍 Chinatown, London
Charred Mackerel with onions and mushroom dashi. We only use sustainable fish from small independent suppliers and are excited to be working with @foodchain__ our neighbours @popbrixton to help us source the best in local seasonal produce 📸 @justindesouza_photographer
@amandabelsham is the dumpling queen 👸🏼. Evidenced here by her magnificent order of ‘Leong’s Signature xiao long bao’ aka the BEST soup dumplings in China Town 😍. We also had Sticky Rice, Custard Bun’s, Glass Noodles and Slow braised pork belly! ALL DELISH well done ‘Leong’s Legend’
Miso marinated aubergine for my meat free Monday starter tonight! 🍆 Made mixing miso, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and garlic brushed over and roasted for 25 minutes then sprinkled with sesame seeds! 🍆 So tasty! And the perfect starter before my soy marinated salmon for a yummy healthy Asian inspired dinner!
