Well Stephan from Solutions! has agreed to build me a custom omni-directional speaker for my #seaboard rig this time around. I talked to a supplier of this stuff but they looked at me like I was a little crazy (which is true to be fair) but he seems to be the only one who "gets" what my project is about.
I was hanging out at his shop for a little longer this time but was interesting to hear him give the same spiel every single time -- yes ok, all speakers and keyboards were made "incorrectly" in the last 40 years, but he always ties it into how these mistakes lead to us being anxious, paranoid, and fearful of the future all the time in modern society. Being that I feel the same way about how tech products are designed today it's hard for me not to be sympathetic to that point of view.
Another thing he says is that there's a huge disconnect between the way gear and the music itself is made in 99% of the music out there. I do agree with him on that, actually. Musicians and audio engineers often look down on each other, similar to how software devs often get into arguments with management about how to do certain tasks. Tech companies often think they can sweep this under the rug but the tension of these arguments ultimately do end up showing up in the products -- and we're basically ingesting this stuff all the time, everywhere right now. In music this conflict goes right into your soul, directly.
Anyway, I'll be getting a modified version of RadioShack's Optimus LX5 since apparently it was one of its kind back in the day. He was too busy telling another client that they'll be getting all the girls after he fixes their "wrong" speakers (he's quite good at that, lol) so I didn't catch all the details but supposedly it was one of RadioShack's finest.
I can hear it now: "hey sweet amp, bro, where'd you get it from?" Oh, from RadioShack. "..." This is why I don't work in Hollywood.

I am particularly excited to have this beer on Monday’s @terroirnewmusic concert with @nullstate_official and @hiddenspringsaleworks. Still some tickets, so if you plan on coming, get them now and save time at the door... time you can use to drink more beer. #Repost @terroirnewmusic with @get_repost
UH OH - today's beer #reveal is something we've actually never seen IRL, since it's not even released yet, but we know it's going to be good.
It's a brand new beer from @hiddenspringsaleworks - one that Frank Costanza himself would be proud of - and we're excited it's part of Terroir007: Digital Juice:
SERENITY NOW! 🙏🏻 It's a Berliner that is reminiscent of a cherry cordial; tastes of cherry, vanilla, and chocolate, with the tartness you know and love from a Berliner. This beer is paired with @benjamin.nullstate’s piece "Human Sequencer," a work that explores the complex, elegant, and corruptible elements of human nature. Because it just made sense.
Come get some on October 22, and if you like it a bunch (and you probably will), you can take it home that night because it will be available in cans with this serene/insane artwork by @akatarina on it. Tickets at terroir007.eventbrite.com or simply ”Get Tickets” up in our profile. Cheers!
