I woke up around seven to try to get some work done before we left for the game.
I grabbed a bottle of kombucha, some coconut chunks, and sat down to flip open my laptop.
I heard chipping sounds out the window, so I looked up, and then I was speechless; the sun had just risen, and the light was projecting through the leaves to give the land its first breeze of liveliness since the last dusk, casting contours of the trees onto the glass.
I went over and opened a window — a squirrel was out to gather its breakfast, but stopped when it noticed me. We stared at each other for a couple of seconds.
I went back in, fetched my phone, and snapped this photo.
Nature is amazing.
