A #government plane carrying Melania Trump had to turn around and return to an air base in Maryland after smoke filled the cabin.
The First Lady of the United States was aboard the aircraft today on her way to Philadelphia to address a hospital conference on neonatal abstinence syndrome. But minutes into the morning flight, the aircraft developed a “mechanical” issue.
Secret Service agents leapt from their seats 10 minutes into the morning flight and ran to the front of the aircraft.
Reporters on board said they were told a “mechanical” issue caused the scare. No one was hurt but the first lady didn’t reach her destination. A press pool reporter on board said journalists “could see a thin haze of smoke and smell something burning. The smell quickly became stronger.” A crew member told the reporter that a “malfunctioning comms unit” was to blame.
Melania’s flight returned to Joint Base Andrews and landed safely at 9:05 a.m.
The plane was a C-32, the military’s version of the Boeing 757-200. It’s the same aircraft that took the first lady to Africa this month and is routinely used as “Air Force Two” when Vice President Mike Pence travels outside Washington.
Expanding on my “Shake off the stress class” and for those of you who want more info on how the body responds to stress, I think it’s easiest to understand by looking at the polyvagal nerve theory and following the bell curve 💚Basically we want our body to be operating in the bottom level of social engagement 💚but when life and stressful situations occur, naturally our body goes into the fight or flight stage creating contraction in the body, sometimes the stress is so intense that we freeze and we can stay frozen in certain areas of our lives and in certain areas of our bodies for years, or for the rest of our life, unless we decide to deal with that frozen area. 💙❤️Coming out of the freeze zone normally sends the body through the fight and flight zone again and we can either be uncomfortable with the feelings that come up there and let them pass or we choose to go back into the freeze zone (the loop of going into fight/flight and back into freeze time and time again is know as PTSD). ❤️💙the reason I share this is to show you that what you experience in the flight, fight or freeze zone is normal, that’s how our body was wired to protect ourselves. 💚❤️💙during shake off the stress as your body releases you are not Re-traumatized, you do not experience memories from trauma you are releasing, you just release stored stress in the body so that you can come back to a more balanced calm state in the body. 💚ladies you can try it out for yourself in my class this week: Thursday at 4:30pm at Kaia fitness in midtown.
