Waking up and diving right into a bath of salt water is a luxury only some of us have. When I have that opportunity, I want to get right in there and let the salt water do its work. .
Let’s get into two different aspects of salt here; .
🧘🏾♀️The nourishing and healing benefits of salt water itself, and .
🍽Salt in the diet which is imperative for health and athletic performance. .
Most of us can recall feeling better after submerging ourselves in the ocean. Natural sea salt contains many essential minerals like calcium, sodium, and potassium. These minerals play a role in skin health allowing cell to communicate with each other and heal issues that may crop up. When we don’t have enough of these minerals in our diet you may find symptoms such as dry skin, blotchiness and irritation. Sea salt can naturally improve hydration and strengthen the outer layer of the skin to help keep skin healthy and youthful. .
For the performance side of salt, natural unrefined salt is key. Pink Himalayan salt, which has gone through a mild processing, will still provide the beneficial minerals which your body will be able to use effectively for muscle contraction and cell health. When we perspire we lose electrolytes through our sweat which includes sodium. These electrolytes need replenishment in the form of either a liquid or whole food consumption with added natural sea salt. Processed foods with refined salt that have been bleached, will not provide the minerals necessary for recovery. Spending the extra few bucks on natural, unrefined sea salt will be worth it for optimal health. Stay salty friends.
