It’s always interesting to see how groups respond when I ask them to take a "selfie" following my presentation. With some groups, a majority of attendees will resist, whereas with others, a majority of attendees will be excited about the opportunity to get up and engage in laughter.
Though the responses tend to vary, I continually take selfies with a very intentional objective:
to get people out of their comfort zone.
Too often, individuals in a professional setting are expected to be robots. They’re expected to have all the answers, all the time, and are often limited in their ability to implement their own creativity and/or personality.
Taking selfies humanizes the work of the individuals I speak with. It allows them to see each other as individuals, and others to see them as people, too. People who - like you and I - have personal struggles, are fighting illnesses, navigating financial difficulties, and still trying to do the best they can in their respective role.
Thank you April Donahue for inviting me to speak at the Conference of Florida Medical Society Executives and thank you to this collective of people for sharing their personalities, for their vulnerability, and for their commitment to helping physicians care for their patients with compassionate care. #leadership#leadershipdevelopment#conference#passion#medicine#care#life#inspiration#motivation#speak#heart#fun#human#laugh#foodforthought
How can she be SIX 6️⃣ months already?!! To think exactly one year ago this week we got the call...the call that humbled us and changed us forever. In a way I can’t describe...maybe one day. I do know, we were very scared of the unknown and the endless unanswered questions. But through prayers and hope she’s here and simply perfect. We always prayed for one thing, a healthy baby and He delivered. We are forever grateful, complete and deeply in LOVE! #catalinasocarras
