💤 HOW SLEEP EFFECTS YOUR FAT LOSS.
I’d heard it a billion times, but I didn’t realise how bad my sleep was until I made some small changes & have seen some MASSIVE results.
🌙 What’s SUPPOSED to happen when it’s bed time is our body’s cortisol levels should drop off & melatonin levels rise (which sends a signal to say hey 👋🏼 it’s bed time) we get sleepy & fall asleep.
☀️ In the morning just before we wake up these cortisol levels rise & this helps us wake up.
(This is our body’s natural circadian rhythm, which is why if you’re traveling to a different time zone, you get jet lag)
BUT… when you don’t get quality sleep, your cortisol levels rise through the night disrupting this circadian rhythm - causing all kinds of problems with “that time of the month” weight gain, pcos, lowered immunity + muscle repair (AKA those results you worked so hard for in the gym)
One thing that alters our body’s natural ability to do this (which makes it hard to go to sleep or have a crappy sleep.) Is time in front of a screen…
So you NEED your sleep, your hormones & circadian rhythm to be in check AND doing what it’s supposed to do at the right time so that you can get the best results from your training.
👉🏼Things you can do to improve your sleep & get better results:
✔️ Get yourself some glasses that block bad blue light from the screens you watch all day - I got mine from @baxterblue_ & have immediately noticed a difference, no more sore/tired eyes & I can scroll before bed without it effecting my sleep.
✔️ STOP training so much. Doing a tonne of cardio & training excessively raises cortisol (some cortisol is good - but excessive isn’t) & is counterproductive to muscle growth and burning fat. Get yourself a proper resistance program AND stop training so much at high intensity. There are lots of programs, & coaches around (like me🙋🏻♀️) do your research & don’t cheap out on your program.
✔️ Get your nutrition in check (🙋🏻♀️I also teach this) Avoid processed junk, take Cod Liver Oil, eat anti-inflam foods like natural yoghurt, sauerkraut & kefir to help normalize your circadian rhythm & improve the health of your gut.
