Did you know that your digestive tract (the point at which food enters to the point at which food exits) and your skin are two of the most integral parts of the immune system? They are your body’s natural defense system that provide barriers to infectious agents (viruses, bacteria, etc.).
The Digestive Tract: Poor nutrition leads to impaired gut lining, altered intestinal microorganism (including bacteria) and reduced gastric acid secretion. These functions are vital in protecting your body from infection from a virus, bacteria or other microorganisms.⠀
The Skin: Poor nutrition can also lead to skin conditions. As a result, your major defense systems are down and this allows an open door through your skin for invaders to move in and create further infections.⠀
So what do you do? Take care of our family’s immune systems by eating good food. Feed your skin and digestive tract from the inside out. If their digestive tract and skin are thriving, their immune system’s greatest barrier is able to do it’s job to fight invasions. We must also consider what you are putting on your skin. Many skin products can alter your bodies immune system and should be reconsidered.
